II. Practice
A studio of slow material.
Elin Voss (b. 1986) makes work at the seam between sculpture and repair. Plaster is poured into cloth. Copper is bent by hand until it remembers a shape. Wood is left to weather a winter before it is touched.
The objects are unhurried. They carry the slowness of the materials they are made from, and ask the viewer to meet them at that pace — to notice a seam, a fingerprint, the place where one thing was bound to another.
Her work has been shown in Sweden, Denmark and the United Kingdom, and is held in private collections in Stockholm, Copenhagen and London.
